Experiential Marketing | Communications | Program Development
What does a radio network owned by The Walt Disney Company and a local nonprofit focused on affordable housing have in common you might ask?
Well, the answer is ME! Let me explain...
In 2008, I was hired as an On-Mic Talent for Radio Disney. Through this opportunity, I was able to recreate the energy and excitement families experience with Disney Channel and Radio Disney by hosting live, interactive events that featured games, contests and choreography. As a student studying public relations at the U of M, I was able to learn about experiential marketing from the best in the business. Today, I continue to build turnkey events for local and national clients, jumping on mic whenever I can!
When I wasn’t on stage, I enjoyed working with youth through direct service. This led me to work with the Youth Development Department at Project for Pride in Living (PPL). I collaborated with diverse community partners to improve youth services in schools, camps, after-school programs and mentorship programs. My youth work developed an extra layer of depth when I began to create programming at a supportive housing site that supported families dealing with chronic homelessness, chemical dependency and/or mental illness. I matched participants with trained mentors and developed customized learning plans focusing on literacy and social/emotional skills for grades K-8.
In the beginning of my career, I had no idea that my dynamic job opportunities would fit together so well. However, whether it be through education, entertainment or both, it all comes down to creating meaningful and positive experiences for kids and families. And the best part is, I'm just getting started!
